Sauti said: Having crossed the ocean, Kadrū of swift speed, accompanied by Vinatā, quickly arrived before the horse.
सौति ने कहा: समुद्र को पार करने के बाद, तेज गति वाली कद्रू, विनता के साथ, घोड़े के सामने आ गई।
Seeing many black hairs stuck to the tail, Kadrū made the dejected Vinatā her slave.
पूँछ पर बहुत सारे काले बाल फँसे देखकर कद्रू ने उदास विनता को अपना दासी बना लिया।
Then, having lost the wager, Vinatā became a slave who was stricken by grief.
तब विनता दाँव हारकर दु:ख से दुःखी दासी बन गयी।

एतस्मिन्नन्तरे चैव गरुडः काल आगते विना मात्रा महातेजा विदार्याण्डमजायत
Meanwhile, when the time came, Gāruḍa of great energy broke open the egg without his mother's help and emerged.
इस बीच, जब समय आया, तो महान ऊर्जावान गरुड़ ने अपनी माँ की मदद के बिना अंडे को तोड़ दिया और बाहर निकल आये।

अग्निराशिरिवोद्भासन्समिद्धोऽतिभयंकरः प्रवृद्धः सहसा पक्षी महाकायो नभोगतः
He looked like a mās-s of blazing fire and was fearful in appearance. As soon as he was born, the bird increased to a gigantic size and rose into the sky.
वह धधकती आग के समान दिखता था और दिखने में डरावना था। जन्म लेते ही वह पक्षी विशाल आकार का हो गया और आकाश में उड़ गया।
On seeing him, all the beings sought the refuge of Vibhāvasu. They bowed down before the god who has a universal form and who was seated on his seat, and addressed him thus.
उसे देखकर सभी प्राणियों ने विभावसु की शरण ली। उन्होंने विश्वरूपधारी और अपने आसन पर विराजमान भगवान को प्रणाम किया और उन्हें इस प्रकार संबोधित किया।

अग्ने मा त्वं प्रवर्धिष्ठाः कच्चिन्नो न दिधक्षसि असौ हि राशिः सुमहान्समिद्धस्तव सर्पति
"O Agni! Do not extend your body. Have you decided to burn us? Look, the huge mās-s of flames is spreading."
"हे अग्नि! अपने शरीर का विस्तार मत करो। क्या तुमने हमें जलाने का निर्णय लिया है? देखो, आग की विशाल लपटें फैल रही हैं।"
Agni replied: "O persecutors of the demons! It is not what you think. It is the mighty Gāruḍa, equal to me in energy."
अग्नि ने उत्तर दिया: "हे राक्षसों के उत्पीड़कों! यह वह नहीं है जो आप सोचते हैं। यह शक्तिशाली गरुड़ है, जो ऊर्जा में मेरे बराबर है।"
Sauti said: Thus addressed, the gods and all the sages approached Gāruḍa and from a distance praised him in these words.
सौति ने कहा: इस प्रकार संबोधित करते हुए, देवता और सभी ऋषि गरुड़ के पास आए और दूर से इन शब्दों में उनकी स्तुति की।
"O lord of the birds! You are a riṣi. You obtain the greatest share in a sacrifice. You are a god. You are our supreme protector.
"हे पक्षियों के स्वामी! आप एक ऋषि हैं। आप एक यज्ञ में सबसे बड़ा हिस्सा प्राप्त करते हैं। आप एक देवता हैं। आप हमारे सर्वोच्च रक्षक हैं।
You are the ocean of strength, you are purity. You are beyond qualities and darkness. You are the possessor of all anger. You cannot be conquered. We have heard that you are the performer of all great acts. You are all that has not been and all that has been.
तुम शक्ति के सागर हो, तुम पवित्रता हो। आप गुणों और अन्धकार से परे हैं। आप समस्त क्रोध के स्वामी हैं। तुम्हें जीता नहीं जा सकता. हमने सुना है कि आप सभी महान कृत्यों को करने वाले हैं। आप वह सब हैं जो नहीं था और वह सब हैं।
You are the supreme knowledge. Surpassing the rays of the sun, you produce all that is permanent and all that is transient. Darkening the splendour of the sun, you are the destroyer of everything.
आप परम ज्ञान हैं। सूर्य की किरणों को पार करके, आप वह सब उत्पन्न करते हैं जो स्थायी है और वह सब जो क्षणभंगुर है। सूर्य के तेज को अंधकारमय करने वाले, आप सब कुछ का नाश करने वाले हैं।
You are all that perishes and all that does not perish. O god! With the splendour of fire, you consume everything, just as the sun burns all beings in his anger. You are like the terrible fire which destroys everything at the end of a yuga, when all is consumed in the cycle of destruction.
आप वह सब हैं जो नष्ट हो जाता है और वह सब जो नष्ट नहीं होता है। रब्बा बे! अग्नि के तेज से आप सब कुछ भस्म कर देते हैं, जैसे सूर्य अपने क्रोध से सभी प्राणियों को जला देता है। आप उस भयानक आग की तरह हैं जो एक युग के अंत में सब कुछ नष्ट कर देती है, जब विनाश के चक्र में सब कुछ भस्म हो जाता है।
O king of the birds! Having come to you, we seek refuge in you. You move in the sky, you have unbounded energy, you are as powerful as the fire. You are the mighty bird Gāruḍa, you reach the clouds. We have approached you. You are the granter of boons and unparalleled in strength."
हे पक्षियों के राजा! आपके पास आकर हम आपकी शरण चाहते हैं। आप आकाश में विचरण करते हैं, आपमें असीमित ऊर्जा है, आप अग्नि के समान शक्तिशाली हैं। आप शक्तिशाली पक्षी गरुड़ हैं, आप बादलों तक पहुँचते हैं। हमने आपसे संपर्क किया है. आप वरदान देने वाले और अद्वितीय बल वाले हैं।”

एवं स्तुतः सुपर्णस्तु देवैः सर्षिगणैस्तदा तेजसः प्रतिसंहारमात्मनः स चकार ह
Having been thus praised by the gods and all the sages, Suparṇa then decreased his energy and his splendour.
देवताओं और सभी ऋषियों द्वारा इस प्रकार स्तुति किये जाने पर सुपर्ण ने अपनी शक्ति और तेज कम कर दिया।
